BUT BEAUTIFUL....MY TRIBUTE TO JULIE WILSON

“BUT BEAUTIFUL…MY TRIBUTE TO JULIE WILSON”

This is a tribute show to Broadway, TV and Cabaret icon, the grand dame Julie Wilson! Sue will sing a program of Julie's signature tunes all done her way. As the first recipient of the Julie Wilson Award bestowed by the Mabel Mercer Foundation, Julie hand-picked Sue for this honor and soon became Sue's mentor and friend.

Julie made her Broadway debut in the 1946 revue Three to Make Ready. In 1951, she moved to London to star in the West End production of Kiss Me, Kate and remained there for four years, appearing in shows such as South Pacific and Bells Are Ringing while studying at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. Additional Broadway credits include The Pajama Game (1954), Jimmy (1969), Park (1970), and Legs Diamond (1988), for which she received a Tony Award nomination as Best Featured Actress in a Musical. She also  toured in Show BoatPanama HattieSilk StockingsFolliesCompany, and A Little Night Music.

Wilson also had a film and television career, as well as a solo recording career. With over fifteen albums to her credit, she recorded the works of many of the Great American Songbook’s greatest composers: Cy Coleman, Harold Arlen, the Gerswhins, Bart Howard, Cole Porter, Kurt Weill, and Stephen Sondheim, as well as many original cast recordings and “Live from . . .” events.

With fifteen albums to Ms. Wilson's credit, there is a wealth and eclectic source of songs that Sue will present along with personal stories of their friendship. If you do not already know this remarkable woman you will know her by the end of this show.
